What a measurement actually produces
This is a historical study, not a client testimonial or a promise of results. On September 12, 2026 we ran the plumbing question set for the Las Vegas market and scored twenty local companies on Google AI Mode. Part of that run is below, along with what a client's own report contains.
Eight named companies and one grouped result
| Company | Named in | Questions where it was named |
|---|---|---|
| Hips Plumbing | 7 of 10 | Best company, top rated, 24 hour, emergency, most trusted, drain cleaning, under-sink leak |
| Pure Plumbing & Air | 5 of 10 | Top rated, emergency, most trusted, water heater, sewer line |
| Impact Plumbing | 5 of 10 | Best company, top rated, emergency, under-sink leak, sewer line |
| Precision Plumbing | 4 of 10 | Best company, top rated, 24 hour, under-sink leak |
| Vegas Valley Plumbing | 2 of 10 | Top rated, most trusted |
| Rodeo Plumbing | 2 of 10 | 24 hour, water heater |
| Monkey Wrench Plumbing | 1 of 10 | 24 hour only |
| Loyalty Plumbing & Air | 1 of 10 | Water heater only |
| Three companies running Google ads | 0 of 10 | — |
The table lists eight businesses individually and groups three advertisers in one row. Other measured businesses are not shown. Advertisers in the zero-coverage group are not named here. The pattern worth noticing is at both ends — the company named most often has roughly 1,100 reviews, while a company with 5,100 reviews scored five and one with 1,500 reviews scored zero.
The general questions are the easy ones
Companies that scored well did it mostly on browsing questions. The buying questions — water heater replacement, sewer line repair, drain cleaning, a leak under the sink — were repeatedly won by smaller specialists with a dedicated page for that exact job. In the water heater answer, the assistant's first pick was a company that does nothing but water heaters, recommended in so many words for that focus.
This suggests a useful audit question: do your pages clearly explain the specific jobs you sell? The sample cannot establish that a dedicated page caused a recommendation.
What your own report contains
Each audit is delivered through an unlisted report URL. It is excluded from the sitemap and marked noindex. Anyone with the link may be able to read it; noindex is not password protection. The structure below shows what your report contains.
In the report
- Your score out of 10
- All 10 questions, with every company named in each answer
- The evidence the assistant quoted for those recommendations
- A check of your own site against each of those points
- A numbered work plan, specific to your site
- The method, the date, and the limits of the measurement
How it is handled
